I continued to do arithmetic with my father, passing proudly through fractions to decimals. I eventually arrived at the point where so many cows ate so much grass, and tanks filled with water in so many hours, I found it quite enthralling.

Looking for ways to help your child succeed? Here are a few ideas...
1. Organization: Assist with organizing notebooks by including labeled Index dividers. En courage keeping all loose papers hole-punched and placed in the correct section on rings in the notebook. If a backpack is used, prompt your child to clean it out at least once a week.
2. Time Management: Have your child keep an assignment book and write each class activity and assignment down everyday. Stick to a schedule with a specific time for homework and study each day. Post reminders of test dates and project deadlines in a place for you and your child to see.
3. Be Positive: Cultivate an atmosphere of importance and respect for education and the benefits derived from learning. Acknowledging that confusion is a part of the learning process, which must come before enlightenment, can sometimes deter a negative attitude. Encourage your child to be a conqueror, to do his or her best, even when things are difficult. |
